That Encounter

That was April of 1994.. a very hot summer. All I was thinking is the work in the field. Its time to help our parents in the field. But God had made a plan for me.
I got an invitation for a summer youth camp to be held in Piwong Evangelical Church and all expense paid. So I attended the camp. It was during this camp that I encountered God in my life. I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. And my walk with Him began on that very day.
2 Cor. 5:17 was the theme verse of the camp. It had so much impact in my life.
"Therefor if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come"
Indeed, it was the new beginning of my life and my family.

It was the door that opened so many blessing and miracles in our lives.

My parent's approval for me to attend the youth camp was a miracle. Allow me to elaborate.

I grew up in a family who was rooted in the belief of paganism. In fact my grandpa is a native priest. I witnessed many rituals during my younger years. Paganism for me is the belief to many gods as they have god of the forest, god of the water, god of the sky, etc.
Christian activities then were so rare in our community. Even if there were activities sometimes I can feel the discrimination as the people know that my family was practicing "baki".
When my parents allowed me to join that camp to me it was the first miracle of God in our lives.
